Year end post -2010.

This post comes as a customary act :)

My parents/wife/brother/anni everyone thinks/says that 2010 wasnt such a good year from a personal front. But i dont beleive it completely...

My brother and his family met with an accident and escaped miraculously on Jan-3rd 2010.
When everyone saw the accident as a bad omen, i saw how miraculosuly they escaped without any major injuries when the car was crushed and wasnt usable anymore.

My dad fell from steps and broke his head during April-2010. But i really was surprised at which he missed the sharp edges of the wooden shoe stand so that his head injury was minimal. For his age he didnt fracture any bone. This incident happen at 4:30am, he was bleeding continously & ed. He couldnt get up and alert anyone. I was surprised at how some instinct of my mom made her wake up and see my dad in the steps within 5 mins of his fall, so that he didnt lose much blood which would have had more harmful effect.

My wife's ankle swelled and she couldnt walk from June-2010. She had to undergo medication for almost 3~4 months for nothing as doctors couldnt diagonose the reason for swelling and they kept trying to understand the reason. She is almost bedrid from August2010 till now. Doctors keep referring to other doctors and we almost visited 5 doctors. But ThankGod we met a doctor named Krishnamurthy at last who was able to diagnose her ankle and found the reason and she started taking medication from Oct-2010 and she is getting better everyday now.

Its been a year filled with more hospital visits, doctor consultations etc etc.
Its terrible than how i have put things here ...

I agree that these are not good things to happen, but cant we be satisfied that nothing went adverse. Instead of cribbing and whining about things that had happend which is not in our control, we can control on how we take things, our thoughts and try to be positive. Why not thank the god for the miraculous escape, thank the god for waking my mom at 4:30am, thank the god for showing us a doctor who was able to identify the problem.

Other than that learnt to Swim, a long pending TO-DO item.
Went to Girivalam and planning to continue this as much as possible.
I have started taking work less seriously and trying to spend more time with wife & kid.
Started following NBA again.
Realized that we cant be always on our friends side after we understand that what he is doing is not right and keeps doing the same thing even after you tried to explain him a 100 times.
Planned to learn to play a musical instrument which didnt happen.
Planned to change the car - didnt happen.
Wanted to quit software job (may sound silly) - didnt happen.
Wanted to learn to whistle - didnt happen :)

Wish 2011 infuses more mental strength, healthy mind & body, positive thoughts & attitude.

Man-Madhan-Ambu

ManMadhan Ambu - Once you see the movie you understand the reason for the title.
It starts from there, little nuances all through the movie, subtle dialogues & actions (obviously counting Sangeetha out).
Omitting the last 15 mins and especially the last 5 mins, this movie seems to be a good watch.
"Neela Vaanam"s editing leaves everyone stunning. Soothing camera, works well with the mood of this story. No extra characters that is not needed for the story.

Some of the good things about the movie:
Not too many actors crowding the screen. Everyone gets their space. Even the Malayali couple.
The screen play is clear, yet with a twist.
Dialogues are sharp and crispy. (Trisha & Madhavan's dialogue in the Hummer is an example)
All actors have done their act so effortlessly and make the audience feel at ease.
Setup of the movie was awesome, having the backdrop of the story to happen in a european cruise ship gives this story an extra flair.
No song every 30 mins.
No fight after or before the songs.
No punch dialogues.
No villain flanking 50 goons behind him.
No sumo's flying, no aruva splashing blood, no pistol, no bombs.

Kamal has comeout with a clean, family, slow comedy entertrainer.

Ambu (Arrow) has indeed hit the target ...

Frustrated Indian...

As Indian's we have a great virtue of forgetting anything within a month time.
But looking back, i somehow doubt that this quality was induced by our great politicians.
Because they have the knack of doing things better than what they did last month.

Parliment was attacked, many respected army & police persons lost their lives to save some group of thugs/jokers/clowns/murderers/rapists.
Supreme court has sentenced life term for X and he will live his life fully because his mercy plea is pending in front of President.
The family of slain martyrs have given back their medals and Govt still shamelessly says that "LAW will take its course".

Serial Bomb blasts in Bangalore. No one knows where that case is heading.

Mumbai was attacked. We never talk about 26/11 now and the guy who was caught red handed is making a mockery of our democracy by asking briyani, news paper and perfume in jail.

Now, no one worries/talks about N.T. Tiwari's scandal with young women in Governor Bungalow.

When CWG Scam hit the streets it made waves across the country, then came Adarsh... to make the last 2 look silly we got 2G scam.
Capping all this, the minister is defended saying since he is a Dalit he is targeted on this scam.
CBI raids are happening after 2 years on which scam has happend :)

Then we saw the parliment stalled and our money wasted every day for the egoistic politicians fighting over whether to accept each others demands.

Nira Radia's tape leaked. Lobby'ists having hand in govt's policy making. People here think that Govt is making policy for common people. But these tapes showed us who those PEOPLE are.

Man who is once charged with corruption is heading "Central Vigilance Commision".

Sold our soverignty for nuclear deal, people are still suffering in Bhopal.

Now, to make us forget everything Govt is planning to increase Diesel cost by ~3Rs and LPG gas by ~100Rs. Cost of vegetables is up by ~300%.
Cost of Petrol today is 63Rs per litre.

Driving a car feels like riding a bullock cart after this rain. The roads that were laid just a couple of months back were being re-laid again with war foot urgency (atleast thats what news paper said so).

The next scam or act makes the previous one looks silly and better.

What next??

Eagerly Awaiting,
Frustrated Indian ...

THE STATION

The below article can be found at http://www.thestationessay.com/
This was forwarded to me by one of my friend ....

I have just pasted the content anyway below, Once we realize that we never reach the station then we wudnt complain much abt the past or what we are going thru :-)

THE STATION
By Robert J. Hastings

TUCKED AWAY in our subconscious minds is an idyllic vision in which we see ourselveson a long journey that spans an entire continent. We're traveling by train and, from the windows, we drink in the passing scenes of cars on nearby highways, of children waving atcrossings, of cattle grazing in distant pastures, of smoke pouring from power plants, of rowupon row upon row of cotton and corn and wheat, of flatlands and valleys, of city skylines andvillage halls.

But uppermost in our conscious minds is our final destination--for at a certain hour and on agiven day, our train will finally pull into the Station with bells ringing, flags waving, and bandsplaying. And once that day comes, so many wonderful dreams will come true. So restlessly, wepace the aisles and count the miles, peering ahead, waiting, waiting, waiting for the Station.

"Yes, when we reach the Station, that will be it!" we promise ourselves. "When we're eighteen. . . win that promotion. . . put the last kid through college. . . buy that 450SL Mercedes-Benz. . . have a nest egg for retirement!"

From that day on we will all live happily ever after.

Sooner or later, however, we must realize there is no Station in this life, no one earthlyplace to arrive at once and for all. The journey is the joy. The Station is an illusion--itconstantly outdistances us. Yesterday's a memory, tomorrow's a dream. Yesterday belongs to ahistory, tomorrow belongs to God. Yesterday's a fading sunset, tomorrow's a faint sunrise. Onlytoday is there light enough to love and live.

So, gently close the door on yesterday and throw the key away. It isn't the burdens of today that drive men mad, but rather regret over yesterday and the fear of tomorrow. Regret andfear are twin thieves who would rob us of today.

"Relish the moment" is a good motto, especially when coupled with Psalm 118:24, "This isthe day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it."

So stop pacing the aisles and counting the miles. Instead, swim more rivers, climb moremountains, kiss more babies, count more stars. Laugh more and cry less. Go barefoot oftener.Eat more ice cream. Ride more merry-go-rounds. Watch more sunsets. Life must be lived as wego along. The Station will come soon enough.

Your fun, Others misery .....

The message is loud and simple .....

No one has the right to play in to the peacefulness, harmony of other persons life.
If you want to get drunk please do it, dont drive and make a mess in other persons life.
If you want to show off in your 400cc bike, please do it in a race track.
If you wanna get thrilled by over speeding, please make sure u hit the wall and not the innocent people on the road.
Your silly mistake can take not only the life of a person but make the whole life miserable for his family (near and dear ones)
The real punishment for these guys should be, making them attend the victim's last rituals. He will never do that again in his life time.
Some lessons are learnt from seeing others mistakes.
Just dont rash drive/drink & drive/ speed drive.

Be Sincere, not Serious !!!

(This post is for me to read whenever needed)

Speech by Chetan Bhagat at Symbiosis ...must read...

Don’t just have career or academic goals. Set goals to give you a balanced, successful life. I use the word balanced before successful. Balanced means ensuring your health, relationships, mental peace are all in good order.

There is no point of getting a promotion on the day of your breakup. There is no fun in driving a car if your back hurts. Shopping is not enjoyable if your mind is full of tensions.

"Life is one of those races in nursery school where you have to run with a marble in a spoon kept in your mouth. If the marble falls, there is no point coming first. Same is with life where health and relationships are the marble. Your striving is only worth it if there is harmony in your life. Else, you may achieve the success, but this spark, this feeling of being excited and alive, will start to die. ……………….

One thing about nurturing the spark - don't take life seriously. Life is not meant to be taken seriously, as we are really temporary here. We are like a pre-paid card with limited validity. If we are lucky, we may lastanother 50 years. And 50 years is just 2,500 weekends. Do we really need toget so worked up? …………….

It's ok, bunk a few classes, scoring low in couple of papers, goof up a few interviews, take leave from work, fall in love, little fights with your spouse. We are people, not programmed devices........." :)

"Don't be serious, be sincere."!!
