ஊரு விட்டு ஊரு வந்து.

சொர்கமே என்றாலும் அது நம் ஊரபோல வருமா?

On a short business trip to US. After a tiring, irritating journey alone from Chennai to Washington, the first thing that ran in my mind was the above song from a RAMARAJAN movie.
Roads are wide, clean & neat. Everywhere its BMW, Merc, Camry & Accord, traffic was smooth from Airport to Hotel. The room was so cozy, fully furnished. The hotel has a GYM, play area .... but still i feel a vaccum in my heart. Dont know? I have always liked being in India-Chennai. It feels like safe, secure, joyous even when am struck in a traffic and waiting in Mountroad for hours together. Too early to feel nostalgic, but even a day outside India makes me feel this way.

Its chill out here and even a 5 mins walk to office is like nose breaking with that wind blowing so hard. People say it would be worse in the days to come. Why the hell do many indians long to come to US? I have a close friend who is in US for more than 7~8 years. He too was one of the herd of guys who came to US to do his MS, and as every one of my friends while leaving chennai (the first time), in the airport he said,"machan iam just going to do MS, may be i will work for 1 year after that then i will surely come back da. i cant imagine out of chennai leaving parents, friends for so long." It was way back in 1999. He is still in US visiting chennai, his parents and friends for a 25 day holiday every year. Last time when he was in chennai i visited his home, his mom criend in front of me and asked him to come back but ....

What is that in US that makes people suck in? Why do people, who had been here for sometime doesnt want to go back to their native?
Is it the 45X conversion?
Is it the abundant independence that she gives for everyone? Do whatever you want, live life the way u feel, there is no one to question you here.
Is it the cozy lifestyle that she affords?
Is it because she gives you unlimited oppurtunities?
Is it because people wanna be away from problems (personal, family etc) back home?

There may be more reasons to add to the above ... Someone who is really in that state can elaborate more :-)
